MARBLEHEAD – The town is looking at compost pick-up as a way to get organic waste out of the town?s trash pick-up, saving money and providing participating homeowners with compost in return.Conor Miller of Black Earth Hauler in Gloucester has offered to pick up residential organic waste and yard waste for $4 a week for participating households.His company will take five gallons of food waste a week or a tote of food and yard waste every two weeks for $8. Residents who sign up for $200 a year will receive a compost delivery.Black Earth already services customers in Gloucester, Rockport, Hamilton, Essex, Ipswich, Salem and Beverly.As the residential service grows, Miller said he would seek to add restaurants to the mix.Restaurant service includes regular pick-up of a 64-gallon tote of food waste, which can include meat, shells and dairy products.
