Nahant Selectman Richard Lombard wants to lose weight this year.But he acknowledged he’s made that New Year’s resolution before.”This year it’s for real – it’s very serious,” Lombard said.Saugus Town Clerk Joanne Rappa predicted her New Year’s resolution will win support from her husband, at least.”Going to start cooking dinner every night – Monday through Friday,” she said, laughing. “My husband will be thrilled to read that one.”They were just two of many public officials who shared their New Year’s resolutions with the Daily Item.Lynn City Council President Timothy Phelan said his New Year’s resolution revolved around his family.He plans to – like every year – resolve to “spend as much time with family and children as possible.”City Councilor at large Dan Cahill has a similar resolution.”I’m going to spend more time with my daughter Charlotte and wife Angela after a long year of campaigning,” he said.Newly elected Lynn City Councilor at large Hong Net aimed his New Year’s resolution at the greater good.”I’d like to stay happy – see peace and honesty in the city,” Net said. He also said he’d like to work with the council to establish a youth center in the city.Lynn Community Development Director Jamie Marsh, who books shows for the Lynn Memorial Auditorium, kept his New Year’s resolution job-related.”Billy Idol is my reach this year,” said Marsh. “He’s a big name act, I’d love to get him here before he stops touring? which will hopefully be never.”Swampscott Selectman David Van Dam said he’d like to continue to investigate ways to bring additional revenue to the town – but not on the backs of residents – whose taxes he’d like to lower.”I can’t necessarily promise anything, but certainly I would like to work on bringing taxes down,” he said.Saugus Town Manager and soon-to-be Nahant Town Administrator Andy Bisignani said he wanted to “successfully transition from Town Manager position in Saugus to new position as Town Administrator in Nahant and continue to maintain and improve the quality of traditional services to the residents of Nahant.”Swampscott School Committee member Laurier Beaupre also related his New Year’s resolution to his elected position.”We have had a very good year this year and a lot of exciting things have happened,” Beaupre said. “I’m really looking forward to building on what we’re doing this year and do it better and better.
