REVERE – A Revere youth turned himself in Sunday night after he allegedly stabbed his younger brother in the back as they fought over leftover Chinese food, Jake Wark of the Suffolk County District Attorney?s Office said Tuesday.Roman Shaquille Pina Irby, 17, was arraigned in Chelsea District Court Tuesday and charged with assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Wark said. He was released on $1,000 bail.According to a police report, Revere Police responded to 250 Broadway #502 at about 5 p.m. for what was initially reported as a domestic disturbance. They found Irby?s 15-year-old brother face-down in the front hallway with two puncture wounds in his lower back. The injured boy was taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he told an officer that he and Irby had begun arguing over a plate of leftover Chinese food, according to the report. The report said the argument escalated into a fight with punches and kicks, and the younger brother grabbed a steak knife to defend himself. Irby then allegedly grabbed a steak knife as well and the two struggled until Irby allegedly forced his brother down onto a couch and stabbed him before fleeing. The boy made his way into the front hallway of the residence and called for help. He lay on the floor bleeding while a neighbor called police, according to the report.Irby turned himself in at Revere Police headquarters at about 9:30 Sunday evening, Wark said, and police took him into custody immediately.Irby is due back in court on Feb. 3, represented by attorney Craig Ninemeier.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
