SALEM, NH – Saugus Police, along with a number of other police departments, are investigating two non-fatal shootings that occurred Monday night in Saugus and Stoneham, and a suspect in both shootings was arraigned on drug charges in Salem, N.H., Tuesday afternoon, police said.Stoneham Police found out Monday evening that a Stoneham resident was being treated for a gunshot at Medford Hospital, and were soon informed by the Saugus Police Department that a Somerville resident was also being treated for a gunshot wound at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after being shot in Saugus, according to the statement.Saugus Police notified police in Salem, N.H. at about 10 p.m. Monday that at least one suspect in the double shooting had possibly fled there, according to a press release from Salem, N.H., Police. The shootings were reportedly drug-related.?The subsequent joint investigation by the Stoneham Police, Saugus Police, Medford Police and the Massachusetts State Police confirmed that the two shootings, while occurring in separate communities, were related,” said Acting Stoneham Police Chief Richard McCarthy in the statement.Both of the victims survived the shootings and have been released from hospitals they were transported to, according to the press release.Police in Salem, N.H., located the vehicle involved in the shootings at a residence there and obtained search warrants for the home and the vehicle at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.The Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit responded to the residence and got all its occupants out, including Steven Ferrer, 21, who was involved in the shooting, according to a statement from Deputy Chief Shawn Patten of Salem, N.H., Police.Ferrer was arraigned in New Hampshire Tuesday morning on charges of marijuana possession, and is expected to face charges in Massachusetts soon. His bail was set at $15,000.Salem, N.H., Police towed the suspect?s vehicle to their headquarters and also seized the firearms used in the shootings to use as evidence.The case is active and ongoing with all departments, said Saugus Police Lt.
