SALEM – A Lynn man who admitted selling narcotics in 2010 will be behind bars for two years in state prison before being placed on probation for another three years.Pedro J. Carrillo, 29, of 76 Park St., changed his plea of innocent to guilty Wednesday in Salem Superior Court, pleading guilty to possession with the intent to distribute OxyCodone as well as two counts of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana before Judge John T. Lu.The judge agreed to sentence Carrillo in accordance with an agreement reached by Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan and defense lawyer William F. Martin.The charges arise out of his arrest when local and federal agents worked together resulting in numerous arrests involving drug activity in Lynn known as “Operation Melting Pot.”Authorities working in conjunction with the assistance of a confidential informant arranged to purchase marijuana from Carrillo.The confidential informant was fitted with audio equipment and met with Carrillo near his Park Street apartment where two ounces of marijuana were exchanged for $250 on April 7, 2010.The incident was also under surveillance by authorities, Ronan told Lu.Then on the evening of June 10, 2010 the witness again met with Carrillo and purchased one ounce of marijuana for $125 and also two OxyCodone 20-milligram pills for $40.That incident was also video and audio recorded.Martin told Lu that the joint recommendation has been “carefully crafted over several months,” that his client has never done state time, as he asked the judge to adopt the recommendation.Carrillo was indicted by an Essex County grand jury in December of 2010 and has been free on $1,500 since being arraigned.
