SAUGUS – An afternoon accident on Route 1 North in Saugus tied up traffic back to Route 60, said Saugus Fire Chief James Blanchard.Capt. Donald Shea said a car traveling north near Burger King rear-ended another car, which was sent crashing into a nearby pole.Shea said there were no serious injuries, but one person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Shea did not know which hospital the person was taken to.Firefighters cleared the accident by around 4 p.m. Friday, but traffic was still backed up, said Shea.”It doesn’t take long to back it up does it?” said Shea. “It’s unbelievable.
