LYNN – Lynn Police arrested a Lynn man Saturday evening after he allegedly attacked a wheelchair-bound woman on Market Street and stole prescription medication and $200 out of her purse, according to a Lynn police report.According to court records, A Lynn District Court judge ordered that Anthony Lemon, 47, of 269 Chestnut St. #1 be held at the Essex House of Correction in lieu of $30,000 bail and $3,000 cash on charges of domestic assault and battery, assault and battery on a disabled person, larceny from a building, larceny under $250 and possession of a Class E drug.An incident report filed by Lynn Police Officer Richard Connick said he and another officer responded at about 5 p.m. Saturday to the Shaw?s parking lot at 25 State St. for a report of a man assaulting a disabled woman. The 52-year-old woman, who identified herself as Lemon?s estranged girlfriend, told the officers Lemon had “approached her from behind and struck her several times in the head,” and that earlier in the day he had stolen her medication and $200 from her purse. The woman told police Lemon was angry because she wanted to break up with him and that he had said he was going to kill her, according to the report.Connick?s report also said a witness approached the police and said he saw Lemon come around a corner onto Market Street and hit the woman in the head and face, and that he immediately called 911 from a pay phone. While officers interviewed the woman, the report said, Lemon showed up at Lynn Police headquarters and stated he had not attacked anyone. Officers took him into custody and, upon searching his clothes, found the woman?s pills, a crack pipe and another set of pills hidden inside the lining of his jacket. The prescription pills were returned to the disabled woman.Lemon is due back in court on Jan. 25 and was ordered to have no contact with the victim.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
