Boys Basketball: Revere makes it four in a row

The Revere boys basketball team remained red-hot on Tuesday as the Patriots notched their fourth straight win via a pulse-pounding 58-55 victory over Swampscott.The Big Blue led 13-12 after a quarter and by two at halftime. The Patriots (4-5) came out flying in the third, outscoring Swampscott 17-9 to take the lead.They extended the lead to 10 points before Swampscott rallied to cut the lead to one with 20 seconds left. But Michael Dreeszen hit two free throws with 14 seconds left and Val Temin’s game-tying three rattled off the front iron as time expired.Revere was led by 16 points from Dom Boyce. Swampscott got 11 from both Temin and Danny Trentsch.Classical 73, Gloucester 55At Classical, the Rams (5-3, 4-2 NEC North) ran out to a 27-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Uche Nwokeji had 18 points to lead all scorers with Eraldo Custodio added 17 as eight different Rams got on the scoresheet.”The last couple games we’ve been able to shoot a little better percentage-wise,” Classical coach Tom Grassa said.Peabody 56, Saugus 55At Peabody, the Sachems had a chance to win at the buzzer but saw a game-winning 3-pointer come up short. Peabody (4-4) was led by 15 points from Yardley Tavares and 11 by Steve Girolamo.Saugus got a game-high 21 points from Curtis Casella.Beverly 42, Marblehead 37At Beverly, the Panthers (6-3, 5-2 NEC North) survived a sluggish night from the floor as Cam Rogers had 14 points to lead the way. Tyler Suggs added eight and Zach Zigelbaum seven in the win.Marblehead got a game-high 16 points from Brian Gellert and 10 from Jeff Peres.Danvers 68, Salem 48At Veterans Memorial Field House in Salem, the Falcons (8-1) continued to plunder their foes from the NEC North as George Merry led all scorers with 29 points, pacing a Danvers attack that saw three players finish in doubles.”They did a great job inside and outside,” Salem coach Tom Doyle said.Nick McKenna had 15 points and Nick Bates added 13. The Witches (3-4) got 13 points from Marvin Baez and 10 by Christian Dunston.Cathedral 76, Fenwick 47At Peabody, Josh Gustin had 13 points and Rishad DaSilva added eight as the Crusaders dropped to 1-4.
