January 11, 2012 by Matthew Roy

The last time the Lynn Jets saw Latin Academy on the ice, it was in the first round of the Division 3 North tournament in Watertown when the Dragons eliminated the Jets, 3-1.Tuesday would be a different story as nine different Jets recorded points, led by two goals and an assist from Ryan MacDonald, in an 8-2 pummeling of Latin.”It was a good team effort,” Jets coach Joe Conlon said. The Jets (3-3-1) showed no ill effects from a heartbreaking loss to Peabody on Saturday as they scored three times in the first to take control. Kyle Devin opened the scoring in the first minute before MacDonald added his two markers.Neither team could dent the scoreboard in the second before the Jets blew the game open in the third with three goals in 35 seconds. Tony Uva made it 4-0 before Aaron Reddick and D.J. Hunt scored 17 ticks apart.Latin scored twice in less than a minute before Steve Petkevich (goal, two assists) and Mark Brazell closed the scoring for Lynn.Mike Gately stopped 12 of 14 shots he faced in goal.SWIMMINGMarblehead 106, English 71At Marblehead, the Magicians (5-0) will head into Thursday’s showdown with Beverly in top form as they took wins in every event on Tuesday.Harrison Rodts was a double winner, taking the 100 butterfly (57.82) and 100 backstroke (57.86).
