Item Staff ReportSAUGUS – Saugus police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night on Essex Street near Cliftondale Square.According to the police log, two sisters said they were walking home along Essex Street at around 8 p.m. when they were approached by two black males.”One of the suspects grabbed a Louis Vuitton pocketbook and attempted to take it,” said Lt. Ronald Giorgetti. “The victim refused to give the pocketbook at which time one of the suspects pulled out a knife and demanded the pocketbook and money.”Giorgetti said the suspects fled toward Cliftondale Square and did not have a vehicle. No injuries were reported.Giorgetti described one of the males as approximately 6 feet tall wearing a dark jacket and dark pants while the other was around 5-feet-7, wearing dark clothing and a winter knit hat with a brim. He said they were both in their late 20s or early 30s.”We’re requesting the public’s assistance if anybody made any observations or witnessed anything they should call the Police Department,” said Giorgetti.The Saugus Police Department can be reached at 781-941-1199.
