Saugus board approves license for new eatery

January 12, 2012 by Matt Tempesta

SAUGUS – The Board of Selectmen approved a license for a new burger and pizza shop on Main Street Tuesday, and continued another hearing for a proposed Internet cafe.Selectmen voted unanimously to approve the license for Fat Fingers Pizza, Ice Cream and Gelato, which will be located at the Village Parks Shopping Center at 343 Main St., next to the Lynn Fells Parkway, said selectmen Chairman Scott Crabtree. The hearing for Cyber Palace, a proposed Internet cafe, was continued over concerns about not having enough parking spaces.Crabtree also said selectmen submitted an engineering report to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to ban heavy trucking on Eustis Street. Residents on Eustis Street have long complained about heavy trucks using the street as an access to a construction site in Revere that sits at the end of Eustis Street.Temporary Town Manager John Vasapolli said in order to ban trucking from the street, an alternate route must be provided. He said Franklin Street in Revere would be an alternate route.?The board?s position is this property abuts on other streets and other roads in Revere and in Saugus,” said Vasapolli. “So there are alternate routes to get to this property.”Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
