REVERE – A Revere woman who told 911 her roof collapsed had the Revere Fire Department firing on all cylinders Monday morning for what turned out to be a cluttered house and a leaky pipe.At least three Revere fire trucks responded to a call of a roof collapse on Dahon Street just before noon on Monday, but found the roof intact and an elderly woman claiming to be trapped beneath a pile of her own belongings.?She had some boxes, some debris that fell on top of her. She saves a lot of stuff,” said Deputy Chief Glen Rich Monday night. Rich described the inside of the home at 62 Dahon St. as “kind of” a hoarding situation. The woman, who Rich said was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for evaluation, told a dispatcher the roof had collapsed and she was stuck on the second floor of the home. Firefighters reported being unable to gain entry on the first floor because of the clutter and used a ladder to enter through the second floor. The woman was able to make her way out of the house on her own, Rich said.?The heat is out at the home so she had a broken pipe, and that?s why she originally said there was a collapse. What she meant was water was leaking down,” Rich said. “She termed everything wrong for the dispatcher.”Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
