Glover school project continues

January 27, 2012 by Jack Butterworth

MARBLEHEAD – Mary Devlin, principal of the Glover and Eveleth schools, wants parents to know that there is a plan in place for students and parents during the Glover School construction period, which is scheduled to begin July 1.In fact, according to a letter Devlin sent out this month, parents can help fine-tune that plan starting in late February. A parent group will begin meeting at that time to discuss classroom environment, transportation and teacher support during the construction of the new Glover School. Parents interested in helping the group may contact Theresa Dever at [email protected].?She (Devlin) doesn?t leave out any details,” School Committee Chairman EuRim Chun said after reading Devlin?s six-page letter. The two schools house children in kindergarten-Grade 3. Starting next fall two kindergarten classes and four Grade 1 classes will attend the Eveleth School and Grades 2 and 3 will attend the Marblehead Village School. This plan will cover the 2012-2013 school year and the first half of the 2013-2014 school year, September-December, 2013, with the new school scheduled to open in January, 2014.Devlin held an open house at the Eveleth School earlier this month and is accepting appointments for parents wishing to tour the kindergarten classes. Parent tours of the Marblehead Village School will be held in the spring and student tours will be scheduled in August. The School Department is allowing parents to send kindergartners to the Gerry School or Bell School if there is space available for 2012-2013 and return to the Glover-Eveleth schools for 2013-2014. Application forms will be available at kindergarten registration.School community meetings will be held every four-six weeks during the construction period.
