SAUGUS – A District Court Judge ordered a Gloucester woman held without bail Thursday after Saugus Police charged her with her third drunken-driving offense when she crashed into another car that was driving behind a police cruiser, according to police and court reports.Judge Albert Conlon ordered Holly J. Ryan, 39, of 90 Concord St., #2, in Gloucester, held without bail during a dangerousness hearing Thursday in Lynn District Court.Saugus police had charged her with OUI, OUI drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a Class B drug, resisting arrest, attempt to commit a crime and having an open container in her vehicle, according to police reports.A police report filed by Saugus Police Officer Jeffrey Wood said he was driving on Lynn Fells Parkway near Route 1 around 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon when he heard screeching tires behind him.Wood said he looked in his rear-view mirror and saw the 2006 Honda Accord directly behind him being struck from behind by Ryan?s car, according to the report. The force of the crash caused the Accord?s back bumper to fall off completely, the report said, and deployed the airbag of Ryan?s Ford Focus.Wood described Ryan as “swaying back and forth and ? unsteady on her feet,” at the scene of the crash, and he asked her four times if she had been drinking before she answered, “No,” according to the report. She failed two roadside sobriety tests administered by officers on the scene.Officers allegedly found an open bottle of Chardonnay in Ryan?s car, which had spilled onto the floor, according to the report, along with two smaller wine bottles and a bottle of prescription pills.Ryan asked police, “What, are you trying to take advantage of a drunk girl?” after they asked her to submit a Breathalyzer test, according to the report, and Wood said he and another officer had to carry Ryan to her cell “while she screamed, twisted and turned,” the report said.According to Lynn District Court records, Ryan was arrested for OUI in April 2006 and June 2002. She will remain in MCI-Framingham until her next court date, currently set for Feb. 2.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
