INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The New England Patriots clung to a 17-15 lead as they and the New York Giants prepared to begin the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIV.However, quarterback Tom Brady appeared to have injured his shoulder on a sack by Justin Tuck during the period.The Patriots began the third quarter with the ball, and they took it upfield for the score.Brady got things going with a 21-yard pass to Chad Ochocinco to open up the second half. Then BenJarvus Green-Ellis reeled off a 16-yard run. Wes Welker caught two passes on the drive, including an eight-yard reception that set up a touchdown pass to Aaron Hernandez.However, Lawrence Tynes kicked two field goals to make it 17-15.The Patriots took a 10-9 lead at half time.The Patriots were stymied by the Giants for just about the entire first half, and fell behind, 9-0, and only ran one play in the process.That one play put them in a huge hole, though. It was a safety, called after quarterback Tom Brady was called for intentional grounding in the end zone.The Giants got the ball back, they launched a nine-play, 78-yard drive that resulted in a three-yard TD pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz.That was it for the Giants, though. The Patriots began their comeback on a Stephen Gostkowski field goal that made it 9-3 on the second play of the second quarter.The Giants offense moved the ball on the Patriots after that, but either the defense came up with a critical play or penalties did them in. On New York?s last drive of the half, the Giants got the first down only to have the ploay called back on a penalty.Manning went deep on fourth down, but Sterling Moore broke up the pass, forcibng the Giants to punt.The Patriots got the ball back on their own four with over three minutes to go in the half, and kept it for all but eight seconds.The nibbled their way down the field, with Rob Gronkowski finally getting into the act, catching a pass.But the secret weapon was Danny Woodhead, who ran hard, and caught the go-ahead pass from Tom Brady from three yards out with eight seconds left in the half.
