LYNNFIELD – After more than 25 years in business, Lynnfield-based J.M. Electrical Co., Inc., has celebrated the milestone of its 10,000th contracting job.President and founder Paul Guarracino, 59, said he attributes the company?s success to strong communication within the company, keeping up with new building technologies and long-term partnerships with customers.?We have customers that have used us exclusively for 25 years, which is hard to believe in this market,” he said.Founded in 1985, the company specializes in building automation and instrumentation, which includes heating and cooling, fire alarms and security systems. J.M. Electrical is also family-operated: Guarracino?s brother, Stephen, is the operations officer, and his three sons, Matthew, John and Andrew, also have roles in the company.?Like any business, it?s all teamwork. And it just adds to the excitement being a family business,” said Stephen Guarracino. “We?re all working toward a common goal.”The official 10,000th job, Matthew Guarracino said, was a small project in December. In the past five years, Paul Guarracino said the company has been doing more projects that involve renewable energy, and there is someone on staff that does Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certification. The company also continues to adapt to new building technologies, so it is able to renovate its clients? facilities to the latest standards.?With the technology, as it changes, we?re constantly updating,” said Matthew Guarracino. With more than 70 employees, Paul Guarracino said the company stays on top of its work by having a weekly management meeting to discuss upcoming projects. The family feel is maintained through two full-staff meetings and two company functions every year, he said, adding that the average length of time one of his workers has been with the company is 14 years.?We have virtually no turnover, which is very, very rare in construction. ? I have the luxury of working with people here who have been with me for a long time,” Paul Guarracino said.J.M. Electrical started out in Paul Guarracino?s Lynnfield home, and he said it then outgrew two other spaces in Lynnfield before moving to its current home in an office building on Kimball Lane.?We moved here in April of 2011, we doubled our space, and we?re focusing on the next five to 10 years.”Sarah Mupo can be reached at [email protected].
