SAUGUS – A black cat had his lucky day today when a Saugus canine control officer rescued the cat from a neighborhood pool.Saugus Canine Control Officer Harry Young said a man called him at 10:17 a.m. because a cat was stuck in his Kennedy Drive pool, which did not have a cover.?The cat was laying in a few inches of water about five feet down in the shallow end of the pool,” Young said. “We got there in like four minutes. Animal Rescue League was in town too. We reached in with a net and were able to get the cat out of the pool, and it was cold, wet and shaking and the temperature was down.”Young said the cat, a domestic black female, was rushed to the Saugus Animal Hospital with a body temperature of 93 degrees. He said the normal temperature for a cat is around 101 degrees.Young said the cat is recovering.?It’s coming around,” said Young. “It’s eating and licking its paws and its temperature is coming back up to normal. We don’t have an owner right now. I think it’s somebody’s pet because it’s very friendly.”Young said he is still searching for the cat’s owner.
