SAUGUS – Saugus Canine Control Officer Harry Young helped rescue a cat from a swimming pool on Kennedy Drive in Saugus Friday morning.Young said the call came in at around 10:17 a.m. when a man called to say there was a cat stuck in his pool, which did not have a cover.”The cat was laying in a few inches of water about five feet down in the shallow end of the pool,” Young said. “We got there in like four minutes. Animal Rescue League was in town too. We reached in with a net and were able to get the cat out of the pool and it was cold, wet and shaking, and the temperature was down.”Young said the cat, a domestic black female, was rushed to the Saugus Animal Hospital with a body temperature of 93 degrees. He said the normal temperature for a cat is around 101 degrees.”It’s coming around,” said Young. “It’s eating and licking its paws, and its temperature is coming back up to normal. We don’t have an owner right now. I think it’s somebody’s pet because it’s very friendly.”Young said anyone with information should contact Canine Control at 781-231-4176.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
