LYNN – A Lynn man remained in jail Tuesday after allegedly assaulting a woman who has Multiple Sclerosis with a knife and striking her on the head, according to a police report.Lynn District Court Judge Michael Uhlarik ordered Joseph Abracham, 47, held without bail at the Essex House of Correction pending a dangerousness hearing Friday. Lynn Police arrested Abracham on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon (knife), assault and battery on a disabled person and domestic assault and battery Monday around 11 p.m.Abracham punched a 52-year-old woman in the head during a verbal argument between the two, knocking her to the ground, according to an arrest report. He then “grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head into the kitchen sink,” which the woman told police was intentional.The woman, who told police she has Multiple Sclerosis and is handicapped, said she escaped to a bedroom but Abracham followed her, the report said. He kicked the door open and entered the room with a steak knife in his hand, then put the knife to his chest and told her, “Just stab me,” the report said.Witnesses told police Abracham has a history of violence with the woman, according to the report, and the woman said she did not want him to be bailed.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
