MARBLEHEAD – Marblehead Police arrested a woman late Sunday night after she allegedly struck a utility pole with her car before driving off, only to be found minutes later by police, who charged her with drunk driving and leaving the scene of a crash, among other offenses, according to a police report.Judge Albert Conlon released Alycia Falvey, 20, of Elm St. #5., Marblehead on personal recognizance at an arraignment in Lynn District Court Tuesday despite a long list of offenses and a criminal history of hit-&-runs.Marblehead Police Officer Eric Osattin said in a report that he and another officer responded to a hit-and-run crash near 83 Village St. around 11 p.m., and located the car in question, a 1999 Buick Sedan, about 15 minutes later on Jersey Street. Falvey stood outside the parked car on a cell phone, and did not immediately acknowledge the officers? presence, the report said.Osattin said he immediately noted Falvey?s slurred speech and incoherence. “When I asked her to stay by her car, she walked away. When I asked her where she was going, she stated she had been in a crash,” he said in the report.Falvey told police she doesn?t drink and gets drug-tested every week because she “works with patients,” the report said. When authorities asked what she does with patients, she said she “cuts them open, like in surgery.”Falvey then failed three field sobriety tests, according to the report, and agreed to take a portable breath test, which found her to have a blood-alcohol content of .149 percent, nearly twice the legal limit.Once she was brought to the Marblehead Police headquarters, the report said, Falvey became “defiant,” and refused to be photographed for booking, saying “she would rather stay there for a week than have her picture taken.”Falvey also tried to run from the booking room, according to the report, and also allegedly kicked an officer in the face as he tried to remove one of her boots. A second report by Lt. Matthew Freeman stated Falvey?s criminal record includes 14 prior offenses, including “multiple offenses for hit-&-runs with property damage.”Falvey is due back in court April 4. She is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, assault and battery of a police officer and disorderly conduct.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
