LYNN ?A Lynn District Court judge ordered a homeless woman who shoved a Stop & Shop customer and kicked a police officer Wednesday afternoon held on $1,000 bail during an arraignment Thursday.According to an arrest report, a policewoman on detail at the Washington Street Stop & Shop in Lynn was told by employees that a woman, identified as, Charlene L. Isom, 41, was “going crazy” in the parking lot.An 83-year-old woman outside the grocery store told authorities she was exiting the store when Isom approached her and asked for money.?When she refused, [Isom] grabbed her groceries out of the [cart], throwing them into the parking lot,” the report said. Isom also shoved the older woman, and chased a second witness to her car after she tried to intervene, according to the report.Isom was screaming profanity at other customers, onlookers and passing traffic, the report said, prompting Lynn Police to take her into protective custody. But when officers tried to put her in the squad car, the report said, she “leaned back and with all her force she kicked [an officer] three times in his inner right thigh.”Police then used pepper spray to subdue Isom, according to the report. She also used the racial epithet to refer to one of the officers, and referred to several others as “white trash,” the report said.Judge Ellen Flatley arraigned Isom on charges of disorderly conduct, assault and battery on an elderly person and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod food) and ordered her held in Framingham Jail pending a hearing on March 15.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
