Lynn pair indicted for 3 armed store robberies

SALEM – A grand jury indicted Dale Knibbs and Brian Delaney, 34, both of 4 Houghton St., Lynn on charges of armed and masked robbery Monday in Salem Superior Court.Police arrested Delaney and Knibbs at their home on Jan. 20 and charged them with committing three armed robberies of the Tedeschi Food Mart at 548 Summer St. earlier that month. A stakeout they conducted led them to the pair, according to police reports, after they were positively identified in photo arrays by clerks present at the store.The three robberies occurred over about a week in January. Video surveillance of the first robbery showed that, as the store clerk transferred cash from one register to another,, a tall white male, believed to be Delaney, entered the store, brandished a large knife and pointed it at the clerk, and then removed over $300 from the register as he continued to point the knife at him, according to an a Jan. 14 police report. At the same time, a black male, believed to be Knibbs, grabbed a second clerk and brought him to the ground.The prosecutor in the case is James Gubitose, according to court records.Also indicted:Zac Alexion, Lynn, was indicted on charges of trafficking more than 28 grams of heroin, trafficking more than 14 grams of opium and possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute.Nicholas Bonet, 27, of 9 aspen st., was indicted on a charge of armed robbery.Patrick E. Maguire, Lynn, was indicted on charges of armed robbery with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.Christopher Roach, Lynn, was indicted on a charge of trafficking more than 14 grams of opium.Indictments are a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court allowing for a more severe punishment.
