SAUGUS – The 2012 Academy Awards may be a thing of the past, but on Monday night, Saugus High School had its own red carpet awards show for this year?s senior class.Close to 100 students filled the auditorium for the annual Who?s Who Awards, and seniors Erin Bennett and Ty Kennedy were the big winners of the night, with three wins each.Kennedy won for best laugh, class flirt and life of the party.?It feels great,” said Kennedy. “I wasn?t really expecting it. I thought maybe I?d get one, but three is awesome. I like it. It was fun and there were some good laughs.”Bennett took home awards for most artistic girl, cute as a button and most likely to bring home to your parents.?It?s just a matter of opinion,” said Bennett. “It was fun and relaxed. I wasn?t planning on (winning three), I was just hoping for one.”Bennett said students were polled throughout the senior class on each superlative, with each category being narrowed down to four students and the winners announced Monday.Courtney Canniff won most changed and class flirt.?Ty is my best friend that?s why we both won class flirt,” said Canniff, who noted she used to be a lot shyer her freshman year.Stephen McKinney won for biggest attitude and being “the one your mother warned you about.”?I don?t like to agree with the teachers,” said McKinney. “I think a lot of moms like me. You can ask them that, but it?s all right.”McKinney said he had a great time at the show, but noted he wished more students attended.Elizabeth Downs was one of the hosts for the night and also took home a pair of awards: most likely to be famous and best hair.?A lot of people know I like to act and model, and do pageants once in a while,” said Downs. “I want to be a fashion designer.”Downs said she was a “little” nervous to host the awards show, but said she settled in once the show got under way.?Whoever wanted to host put their names in a hat and we just picked them out,” said Downs. “I think it went really smooth and nice. It was a lot of fun.”Other winners for the night include Michael Dixon and Amanda DiCenzo for most musical, Nunziante Leo and Tiffany Basile for best dressed, Tyler Stretton and Allison MacDonald for top Tweeters, Jennifer Nou and Tommy Lim for best couple and Olisa Obiefuna for most likely to be famous.Leo also won for most eligible bachelor along with Stefani Terrazzanno, while Obiefuna also won most athletic along with Melissa Toomey. Dave Woodward and Melissa McCarthy were named this year?s class clowns while Brendan Reach and Emily Covell were named most likely to succeed. Terrazzanno also won the beauty and brains award.Nick Hegarty and Alisha LePage took home the dubious honor of worst driver.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
