Kyle Gagnon scored in overtime to lift the Tech lacrosse team to a dramatic 9-8 win over the combined English/Classical team Monday at Manning Field.The Tigers built up a couple of hefty leads in this one, but the Lynn team kept battling back. The combined team, trailing 6-2, scored four straight goals to tie the game, 6-6, in the third quarter. The teams exchanged goals in the fourth quarter, but the game was tied at the end of regulation, setting the stage for Gagnon’s heroics.”This was a hard-fought game,” Tech coach Jay Richards said. “It was a great intercity game. It was a lot of fun, win or lose. I think it brought out the best of both teams.”Jeremy Quinton had five goals and two assists for the Tigers. Jason Grand (2 goals, 2 assists) and Andrew Guy (goal) accounted for the others. Robert Miele had an excellent game in net in the win.Midfielder Jarred Chen had four goals for Lynn and Sean Gately had two, including one with 10 seconds left to tie the game 8-8 and send it into overtime. He also had three assists. Zack Foley had two goals.Swampscott 6, Danvers 5At Swampscott, the Big Blue (2-0) trailed 5-1 at the half, but they began chipping away after the break and got the game-winner from Griffin Hunt with about two minutes left in the game. Brian Santry had tied things up. Swampscott also had scoring from Chris Condon (2 goals) and Matt Gambale and Billy Valle, one goal each. Scott Powell was in net.”It was a great comeback. I give the kids a lot of credit for hanging in there,” Swampscott coach Josh Field said.Peabody 17, Salem 10At Salem, the Tanners (1-1) got a huge offensive lift from Keifer Heckman (7 goals, 2 assists) and his brother, Nick Ouellette (3 goals, 6 assists). Eric Hennessey (4 goals); D.J. Henrick (goal, 10 ground balls); Josh Fiore (goal) and Jeremiah Manfra (goal) also contributed. Evan Connolly (13 saves) picked up the win.Marblehead 18, Saugus 0At Saugus, the Magicians (1-1) had multiple goals from Dean Fader (3), Brooks Tyrrell (3); Ian Maag (3) and Jacob Maselek, Zac Cuzner, Cam Rowe and Trevor Jones, two each.
