MARBLEHEAD – Adam Sandler?s movie “Grown Ups 2” will use Marblehead High?s Sgt. Christopher Piper football field as its main stage this summer, Superintendent of Schools Greg Maas said Thursday evening.Maas told the School Committee that by agreement between Columbia Pictures location personnel, high school administrators and himself, the movie production will erect a tent on the field. Under the tent will be “a swimming pool, tennis courts and some other buildings.”A temporary surface of crushed stone will be used to stabilize the field, Maas said.Filming is scheduled for July 2-20, and the tent, the other structures and the stone will be removed by Aug. 23, about a week before the start of school.?A decision will have to be made about resurfacing the field,” he said.Meanwhile the film crew will erect football goal posts on another field at the high school, which will serve as a football field for the movie. And the Marblehead Veterans Middle School will be used for exterior shots as the movie town?s high school and a hospital. Maas said the main entrance of the school will be used as the high school entrance, and the side adjacent to the school parking lot will become a hospital emergency room entrance. The Veterans School is scheduled to be used May 23-24, and the building will be restored May 28-30.Four months ago, the Recreation and Parks Commission proposed about $130,000 in improvements for the field, and said they were willing to make a contribution to the cost.Commission Chairman Charles “Chip” Osborne proposed putting the project out to bid on an “a la carte” basis and seeking money outside the town budget to do the work.Athletic Director Mark Tarmey is rescheduling several Marblehead High games to other fields at Endicott College, Salem State University and in Lynn.Maas said he has no interest in a cameo role in the film.
