Track: English’s Bonitto leads boys team to first win

Triple winner Alex Bonitto led the English boys track team to a 91-35 win over Winthrop Wednesday at Manning Field. It was the Bulldogs’ first win.Bonitto won the 2-mile (12:38), 400 meters (56.4) and discus (113). Khalil Fleming and Tizzy Boyles were double winners for English. Fleming took the triple jump (35-3) and long jump (19-4), and Boyles took the high jump (5-6) and 100 meters (11.6). The rest of the English winners were: Javon Brown, shot put (40-3); Ben Adewale, javelin (116-4); Peter Mateau, 800 meters (2:09) and Chris Birotte, mile (5:14). English is 1-4.Swampscott 81, Danvers 55At Swampscott, the Big Blue had eight different winners: Matt Nardiello, 400 meter hurdles (1:00); Zack Blonder, 100 meters (11.4); Peter Hale, mile (4:01.34); Declan McClung, 400 meters (53.6); Phil Smith, 200 meters (23.8); Rob Seymour, shot put (42-6); James Beane, discus (131-1) and Aiden Brawley, javelin (125-1). Swampscott is 5-0.Marblehead 87, Salem 44At Marblehead, the Magicians (4-1) recorded 14 personal bests. Nolan Raimo was a triple winner in the 100 meters (11.2), 110 high hurdles (15.5) and long jump (19-8). Danny Plunkett won the shot put (47-5) and discus (141-8). Marblehead also had wins from James Wigglesworth, 2-mile (10:20); Nate Fowler, mile (4:49); Mike Harper, 800 (2:06); Josh Beloff, triple jump (39-10) and Alex Blayer, javelin (128-6).Salem (2-3) had wins from Steven Cruz in the 400 hurdles (61.1, state qualifying time); Christian Guzman, 400 (53.4); Jonathan Crimble, 200 (23.1) and Ben Sattiewhite, high jump (6-0).Newburyport 105, Lynnfield 40At Lynnfield, Mike Kramich took first in the javelin (120-1), third in the 100 meter and he anchored the winning 4 x 100 relay team (50.4). D.J. DeGeorge took second in the discus and shot put and got a personal best in the high hurdles. Also, the 4 x 400 relay team won.St. John’s 89, Catholic Memorial 47At Catholic Memorial, St. John’s had two double winners in Andrew Gauthier and Deklan Robinson. Gauthier took the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.7) and javelin (145-6), and Robinson took the high jump (6-0) and triple jump (39-6). The rest of the St. John’s winners were: David Roy, shot put (51-8); Morgan Johnson, discus (140-9); Joey Dumas, long jump (18-4); Andrew Zucco, 400 meters (53.4); Colin Monahan, 800 meters (2:07) and Liam Dow, 2-mile (10:16). St. John’s is 2-1.GIRLS TRACKWinthrop 83, English 43At Manning Field, English’s Carla Ross took the mile (6:22) and Carina Ross took the 800 meters (2:44). Phallika Mon finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.40) and 200 meters (30.1) for English. English is now 0-5.Swampscott 75, Danvers 61At Swampscott, the Big Blue had wins from Tiara Smith-Matthews in the shot put (31-9); Nancy Do, long jump (8 3/4); Melinda Wilson, discus (105-7); Haley Irwin, triple jump (32 3/4); Sarah Kelley, 400-meter hurdles (71.3) and 800 meters (2:28); Nikki Laskaris, mile (5:43); Vy Le, high hurdles (16.9). Swampscott also won the 4 x 100 relay and the 4 x 400 relay.
