LYNN – State Police are investigating a pedestrian accident that occurred at on Lynn Shore Drive at Eastern Avenue just after 5 p.m. Sunday, disrupting what had been for many a peaceful afternoon of dog-walking and bike-riding.A 30-year-old Lynn woman driving a gold Saturn down Eastern Avenue drove through a stop sign and over a median before striking a concrete wall and a female pedestrian who was on the sidewalk, State Trooper Matt McDevitt said at the scene.A crowd of onlookers, including many who said they had been walking along the same area as the woman who was struck, watched as State, Lynn and Swampscott police worked the scene. Ambulances transported both women to Salem Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, McDevitt said, and both were conscious and alert.Heidi Sarro, of Eastern Avenue, was walking along the shore with her husband Richard when she said she heard what sounded like a crash.?It?s just a freak accident,” Heidi Sarro said. “Now you gotta think twice when you walk. It?s very busy over here.”The cause of the crash and whether charges will be filed is still be determined, McDevitt said.?[It] doesn?t look like she used any brakes at all,” he said.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
