Sean Buckland pitched a complete game as the St. Mary’s baseball team defeated Austin Prep, 4-1, at Fraser Field this past weekend.”Sean was dominant on the mound, like every start this year,” Spartans coach Derek Dana said. “It was an outstanding performance.”Buckland went seven innings, allowing one run (it was unearned) on one hit for the Spartans (5-5). He walked one and fanned 12. He also hit an RBI single.Joe Kasper and Buckland each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kasper hit a run-scoring triple that scored Cam O’Neill. Buckland had two singles.Chris Butler drove in a run on a bases-loaded walk and Brian Wilkins added a run when he reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and third, and scored on an overthrow.English 14, Winthrop 8At Winthrop, the teams needed an extra day to finish a game that started on Friday.After seven innings on Friday, the score was 8-8. The game resumed yesterday and English erupted for a 6-run eighth inning. Josue Perez hit an RBI single for the Bulldogs (6-5). Ben Bowden hit a 2-run single. Drew Gentile hit an RBI single. The other two runs scored on errors.Bowden got the win in relief when he pitched the seventh inning on Friday. Freshman Lucas Harris pitched the eighth inning Sunday, recording two strikeouts.Fenwick 1, Spellman 0At Brockton, the Crusaders (7-5) got a complete game from Joe Levasseur (7 IP, 2 H, 5 K). Gianni Esposito scored the lone run of the game in the top of the seventh. Esposito walked, Cam Borelli bunted him to second, Mike Campatelli walked and Mike McKenzie hit a ground ball to second, on which the defense committed an error. Esposito wound up scoring on the error.Prospect Hill 12, KIPP-Lynn 8At the Pingree School, Jose Valera stole five bases for KIPP Academy-Lynn Collegiate (KALC). He added one hit and two runs. Eric Jiminez stole three bases, went 4-for-4, scored three runs and drove in two. Marvin Taveras went 4-for-4 with two RBI.L’field 2, Ipswich 1At Lynnfield, Pete Franchi got the complete-game win (7 IP, 2 H, 2 K, 0 ER). Lynnfield tied the score 1-1 in the bottom of the third when Jordan Roper singled, Dylan Costa walked and Carmine DiCesare hit an RBI single.In the fourth, Chris Lang singled, Alex Vittum bunted him to second, and Franchi hit an RBI single for the game-winning run.B.J. Neil played well at shortstop, Roper had a big catch in right field and Tyler Palumbo played well behind the plate for Lynnfield (8-3).M’head 4, Beverly 2At Beverly, in a makeup game, Max Hall got the win for Marblehead (5-7) with a complete-game six-hitter (10 K, 2 BB). Colton Dana and Casey Stead each hit RBI doubles. Dana had two hits (a double and a single).
