The Peabody High softball team surged past Swampscott late in the game Monday to win 4-3 at Peabody.The score was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Peabody’s Michaela Wallace led off with a single. Wallace made it to second on a sacrifice bunt from Kelly Donahue and scored what would be the game-winner on an Alex Romano (2-for-3, RBI) double. Katie Brunelle (3-4, 1 RBI) also came up big. Shelbi Wilson (7 innings, 7 strikeouts, 1 walk, 3 runs, 0 earned runs) picked up the win for Peabody (7-4).Classical 8, Danvers 1At Danvers, Classical had a four-run fifth inning to open up a little breathing room against the Falcons. Classical pitcher Mackenzie Coppinger silenced the Falcon bats (7 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 0 earned runs, 6 strikeouts, 5 walks), and helped out her own cause at the plate (3-4, 2 RBI). The rest of the Rams offense came from: Danielle Moran, (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored); Chelsey Bartlett (2-3); Katie Cuozzo (2-4); Jennie Erekson and Olivia DeJoie (2 RBI each). Classical is now 12-0.Gloucester 15, English 14At English, the Bulldogs dug a hole in the first inning (they trailed 8-1) and although they staged a big comeback (the game was tied going into the seventh), the rally fell a run short. Lauren Pohlmeyer (4-for-5, 2 triples, 3 runs, 2 RBI); Shanna Zeramby (2-for-5) and Keri Bryson (2-for-4, RBI) did well at the plate. Zeramby took the loss. English is 3-6.Lynnfield 12, Ipswich 3At Ipswich, the Pioneers (8-3) scored six runs in the sixth inning with Julia Sheen (3-run double) delivering the big one.
