The Classical softball team clinched its third straight Northeastern Conference North title with a 13-0 win against Salem Wednesday and it came via a Katie Cuozzo no-hitter. The game was at Mack Park.Classical coach Chris Warren has been very happy with his team all season.”I’m lucky to be coaching a team that is as talented and as hard-working as this one. This feat of clinching three titles in a row has never been done by any other Classical softball team, and hasn’t been done with the boys team in over 30 years. We had a great amount of success last year, but my team never stopped working hard day in and day out,” Warren said.Cuozzo made sure the Rams clinched with her five-inning no-hitter (5 strikeouts, 0 runs). Leading the Classical offense were: Chelsey Bartlett (2-3, 2 RBI); Angela Erelli (2-3, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI); Samantha Earp (1-1, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI) and Adrianna Raymond (1-3, 2 RBI, 1 run scored).Classical (13-0) will play back-to-back Division 1 state champion King Philip Regional High (Wrentham) on Friday. Game time is 6:15 p.m.Swampscott 2, Saugus 0At Saugus, Swampscott shortstop Lindsay Marini hit a two-run double in the first inning and that would be all the offense the Big Blue would need.Tori Thistle led off with a bunt single and Noel Landry walked, setting the stage for Marini’s game-winning hit. The Big Blue benefited from a strong pitching performance by Angela Vousboukis, who scattered five hits, struck out five and didn’t walk a batter.”I think we played a good, sound defensive game,” Swampscott coach Frank Kowalski said. “The girls played well behind Angela.”Saugus pitcher Meghan Molloy also turned in a nice performance, allowing four hits, striking out six and walking two. Gabby Cogliano and Emily McBride each went 2-for-3 for the Sachems. Paulina Ferullo went 2-for-3 for the Big Blue.Peabody 10, English 3At English, the Tanners (8-6) avenged a loss to the Bulldogs earlier in the season. Olivia Brothers (2-for-5, 3 RBI) and Katie Brunelle (2-for-4, 2 RBI) led the Peabody attack.Shelbi Wilson had a strong day on the mound (7 innings, 6 strikeouts, 2 walks, 4 hits, 3 runs) and at the plate (2-3, 1 RBI). For English, Taylor Newhall had a strong day at the plate (home run, RBI, 2 runs scored). Keri Bryson and Lauren Pohlmeyer both went 1-3, with an RBI each. English is now 3-7.Lynnfield 15, Georgetown 0At Georgetown, shortstop Katie Rowe had the big bat for the Pioneers, going 5-for-5, including a double and triple, with four RBI. Melody Mancinelli was equally tough in the circle, allowing only one hit in the six-inning game (mercy rule).Revere 9, Beverly 2At Beverly, senior pitcher Brianna Lauletta went the distance for the Patriots (8-6). She had help at the plate from sophomore Cassandra DiBella, who had two hits and two RBI in addition to making some big plays in right field. Stephanie Gregorio also went 2-for-3 with two RBI and shortstop Jackie Noel got on base three times.
