Marblehead voters to decide on parks and rec, sewer, and light commissions

MARBLEHEAD – Voters will go to the polls today to decide contested elections for the Recreation and Parks Commission, Water and Sewer Commission and Municipal Light Commission.Precincts 1, 2 and 3 will vote at the Masonic Temple on Pleasant Street. Precincts 4, 5 and 6 will vote at the Marblehead Community Center on Humphrey Street. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.Marblehead High hockey coach Robert Jackson is challenging Recreation and Park Commission incumbents Charles “Chip” Osborne, Sam Ganglani, Linda Rice-Collins, Derek Norcross and Gerald Tucker for a one-year seat on the commission.Fire Chief Jason Gilliland is challenging Retired Recreation and Parks Director Thomas Hammond, a candidate for re-election, for a three-year seat on the Water and Sewer Commission.There are three candidates for two available three-year seats on the Municipal Light Commission: incumbents Philip Sweeney and Wilbur Bassett and challenger John Williams, a local construction company owner.
