SAUGUS ? A redesign of the Red Roof Inn in Saugus was completed early last month and celebrated with an open house and ribbon cutting on May 3.General Manager Mike Ciulla said the revamp, which includes flat-screen TVs and new furniture in the rooms, is part of Red Roof Inn’s $90 million nationwide redesign of all of its hotels. The changed rooms also have wood-like flooring with area carpeting, new window treatments, a fresh paint job with an accent wall in each room, new bed linens and spa-inspired bathroom sinks, he said.Ciulla said he anticipates the 117-room hotel will be less vulnerable to any security issues with the revamp, although the hotel already has a “state-of-the-art” surveillance system and a close relationship with local police.?The redesign helps us to keep these problems away by allowing us to raise our rates and appeal to a better-class traveler,” he said. The hotel’s Saugus location at 920 Broadway is one of six Red Roof Inn locations in Massachusetts, Ciulla said.
