SAUGUS – Adam Sandler will be in Saugus next week filming a scene for his upcoming movie “Grown Ups 2,” according to Town Manager Scott Crabtree.Crabtree said he is still working to finalize an agreement with the movie studio, but noted the scene will likely be shot on May 25 at Stackpole Field and will feature Sandler?s character teaching his son how to kick a field goal.?It?s exciting to have a movie and a celebrity come to Saugus to film a scene,” said Crabtree. “They contacted the town and started trying to find out if there were any issues with the school. Obviously we?ve taken a look through the Youth and Recreation Commission, who permits the fields, to see if we have any conflicts.”Part of the agreement with the studio includes a “donation” to the town, said Crabtree.?We?d structure it so that it would be a gift, and we?d hold it for improvements to Youth and Recreation and parks,” said Crabtree.Crabtree did not say how much money the town would receive.?We?re still working on that right now,” said Crabtree.Crabtree also said a new paint job will also be in store for Stackpole Field.?They?re going to be painting gray and blue to match the colors in the movie, then they?ll paint it back,” said Crabtree. “For some reason the locker rooms and snack bars are painted a cobalt blue color, so what I?ve asked them to do is when they paint it back, they can paint it back to red.”Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
