St. Mary’s boys and girls track teams earned a spot in school history with their best-ever performances in the Catholic Central League meets at Bowditch Field in Framingham.The girls finished third with 78 points while the boys placed fourth with 62 points. The boys already own the program’s best-ever Catholic Central Large dual meet record at 7-2.”We will have 12 athletes going to States on Saturday, the most we’ve had in at least 20 years,” said coach Heather Wood.Multi-placers Brianna Anderson and Zuzu Haefner paced the Spartan girls. Anderson won the long jump (15-7) and ran second in the 100 (12.9) while Haefner had seconds in the long jump (15-7) and high jump (5-0) and a fourth in the 400 hurdles (72.9).Carol DiMaiti won the 100 in 12.7 and Chandler Capozzi won the 400 in 63.5 to qualify for States. Toni Vinciarelli earned a State berth with a fourth in the 200 (27.6) as did Michaela St. Cyr with a sixth in the 800 (2:36.1.). St. Cyr added a sixth in the javelin (77-11) as did Carmel Lozzi in the high jump (4-6) and Rachel Hanlon in the triple jump (29-4).The 4×100 relay team of DiMaiti, St. Cyr, Vinciarelli and Anderson placed second in 52.8 while the 4×400 squad of Siobhan O’Neill, Rachel Hanlon, Sarah Ryan and Maggie Carey placed fourth in 4:55.For the boys, Drew DiMaiti won the 400 hurdles (58.5) and claimed fifth in the mile (4:46.4) and Ralph Bertrand grabbed second in the 200 (23.0) and fifth in the long jump (18-6).Cory Donahue placed second in the 100 (11.5), Marvin Bony was third in the 200 (23.4), Kevin Romulus (100, 11.6), Jameson Wadman (javelin, 141-4) and Mike Cronin (high jump, 5-2) had fourths, Guychard Samson was fifth in the shot put (39-2 1/2) and Mike Ksander ran sixth in the two-mile (11:41.8).The 4×100 relay team of Romulus, Bony, Donahue and Bertrand blistered to a 45.4 win while the 4×800 unit of Ksander, Liam Foley, Jack Carroll and Connor Foley finished fifth in 11:16.NORTHEASTERN CONFERENCE MEETSat Manning FieldBoysPeabody steamrolled the field with 165 points – 98 better than runner-up Swampscott. The Tanners would’ve won the meet easily on the strength of their nine first-place finishes but added six seconds for good measure.Double winner Zachary Grube (110 hurdles, 15.13; high jump, 6-2) led the way.
