Prince Pizzeria seeking Route 1 northbound location in Saugus

June 28, 2012 by Matt Tempesta

SAUGUS – Prince Pizzeria owner Steven Castraberti said he and his wife Trisha are looking to open a second location for their iconic pizza restaurant.Castraberti said Wednesday his sights are set on smaller takeout spot somewhere on the northbound side of Route 1 in Saugus and is hoping to have it open “in the fall sometime.”?What we?re looking to do is capture the northbound traffic out of the city with takeout and our full menu, but a much, much smaller place,” said Castraberti. “No liquor, no seats really, just carry out. There?s a stream of cars that don?t want to turn around at Walnut Street ? it could sometimes take you 15 minutes just sitting on the turnaround. It?s still in the works, but we?d love to make it happen.”Castraberti said he sees a “big upside with 135,000 cars” traveling on Route 1 everyday.?That group on their way back, they?re hungry and they?re traveling and this would be an opportunity to do our same food,” he said.Castraberti acknowledged his wife Trisha has had the idea “for a long time,” and on Tuesday, she posed the question on Prince?s Facebook page.Above a giant picture of a plate of Chicken Parmesan over macaroni, the post reads: “Question of the Day: What do you think of a Prince takeout location on Route 1 northbound?”Within 24 hours, the post received 92 likes and 44 comments.?She?s far more forward thinking and creative than me,” said Castraberti. “I?m sort of a small-picture guy and detail-oriented. She?s a big picture person. She thinks it?s a no-brainer and I think it has a lot of merit. You need somebody with a different point of view than you, which is good.”With the possibility of two locations, Castraberti said Prince fans shouldn?t expect another Leaning Tower on Route 1.?I don?t think we?ll ever get another Leaning Tower,” said Castraberti. “Maybe we can get the Prince logo on there and a picture of the Leaning Tower.”Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
