LYNN – The Lynn Babe Ruth 13-year-old all-stars had to endure a power outage more then midway through the game at Bowser Complex Monday night, but the disruption didn’t stop them from defeating Plymouth, 7-3.Lynn took a 6-0 lead into the sixth inning, but Plymouth wasn’t giving up without a fight. Plymouth led off the inning with three singles to load the bases with just one out. The visitors scored on an error, sac fly and wild pitch to trim the deficit to 6-3. With a 2-2 count, two outs, a man on third and Kenny Sanchez on the mound ready to deliver a pitch, the lights went out. There was an hour delay before play continued. Lynn was able to shake off the delay and Sanchez struck out the Plymouth batter to keep the score 6-3 Lynn. Tyler Way came in to pitch for Sanchez in the top of the seventh inning and was able to close out the game. Lynn set the tone early and struck for three runs in the second inning. Andrew Moccia led off the inning with a single, and Sanchez followed with a walk. Plymouth pitcher Nick Curren then balked, which moved Moccia and Sanchez to second and third. Evan Reppich singled to right field to score both runners and make the score 2-0.Reppich scored Lynn’s third run on a wild pitch by Curren to make the score 3-0. Lynn struck again in the fourth inning when Nick Peveri led off with a single, Tyler Way reached on an error and pitcher Antonio Felix hit a triple to right field that scored both runners and stretched the Lynn lead to 5-0.Lynn was very comfortable all game long and Felix had a lot to do with that. Felix started the game on the hill for Lynn and was very dominant in his brief stint. Felix went three innings, struck out one, walked zero, and surrendered only one hit and zero runs. Felix induced seven ground ball outs of the nine outs he recorded.Felix pitched only three innings because he was out of innings at that point. Sanchez came in after and pitched three solid innings as well. Lynn had a strong day at the plate collectively. Lynn’s 4-8 hitters went a combined 8-13, three RBI and five runs scored.Leading the way for the offense was Peveri (3-for-3, run scored), Reppich (1 hit, 2 RBI), Moccia (2 hits, run scored), and Matt Lauria (2 hits, run scored). Lynn improves its record to 3-0 and will square off against Braintree Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at Breed.
