REVERE – Police arrested a truck driver in Revere this morning for use of a cell phone while driving and running a red light before crashing into another truck at the interestion of Route 1A (North Shore Road) and Oak Island Street shortly after 10 a.m.According to Revere Police Spokeswoman Sgt. Amy O’Hara, a 10-wheel box truck owned by a Medford food company was taking a left turn from Route 1A South onto Oak Island Street when it was struck by another commercial box truck that had been traveling on Route 1A North. The driver of the northbound truck, Adam Hartman, 40, of Revere, was arrested and charged with a red light violation and use of a cell phone while driving.Both drivers were treated at the scene but neither was seriously injured.The accident did tie up traffic on the busy thoroughfare for longer than 90 minutes. The trucks involved in the accident were in the process of being towed from the scene at 11:40 a.m.It is illegal in Massachusetts to text while driving, and, as of a law passed this summer in the state legislature, it is illegal for drivers in commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds to use a cell phone at all.
