SAUGUS – Less than three months after opening, the owners of Sully C’s Bar and Grill on Route 1 are selling the restaurant. The ownership transfer is on the agenda for Tuesday’s selectmen’s meeting, and Sully C’s manager, Evren Celimli, who is the son of owner Suleyman Celimli, confirmed the sale but noted nothing will change at the restaurant.”I’m still going to be working here and it will remain Sully C’s,” he said. “Everything is staying the same, we’re just moving forward in a different way.”According to the selectmen announcement, Sully C’s will be transferring its all-alcohol, entertainment and common victualer’s licenses to EKB Corporation and changing its manager to Elaine K. Byrne.Suleyman Celimli opened Sully C’s in early June, several months after Jalapeno’s closed its door.He also owns the plaza where Sully C’s is located, and was the longtime owner of Godfried’s before he sold it about 14 years ago.Suleyman Celimli declined to comment Friday.Selectmen Vice Chairman Steve Castinetti said Friday that he hopes “somebody can make a go of it” there.”It’s a great spot in town,” said Castinetti. “There’s no reason why something shouldn’t succeed there. I don’t care who owns it, as long as it complies with the rules and regulations we’ve established. We will not go back to the old entertainment nonsense. But if they want to continue with the sports bar image, I don’t have a problem with that at all.”Tuesday’s selectmen meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
