SAUGUS – The stage is set for the 33rd annual Saugus Founders Day this weekend, literally.Outside Town Hall a huge wooden platform has been constructed for the long list of entertainment planned.One special guest is sure to turn heads, said Bob Davis, who will be running the TargetCancer booth.?Olympic and professional skater Nancy Kerrigan will visit the TargetCancer booth at Founders Day tomorrow to meet and greet people stopping by,” said Davis. “Through her Olympic achievements, Nancy has provided much local excitement and has supported many charitable organizations.”The TargetCancer booth will be located in front of Town Hall, and Davis said it will help promote The Dave Webster/TargetCancer: Community for a Cure event that will be held next Friday and Saturday.?Those visiting the booth will have the opportunity to purchase pasta dinner tickets, sign up for the cancer walk, purchase raffle tickets and get information about TargetCancer, which raises funds for the research of the rare and lesser known cancers,” said Davis.Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment (SAVE) will once again have a booth and will feature information about environmental issues like toxic household products.SAVE is also asking for donations of worn-out sneakers or athletic shoes for the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe program, which grinds up and purifies old sneakers, and turns them into sports surfacing products.The Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site will be open, and will offer tours and activities for kids like craft demonstrations and the popular hot iron pour. The Iron Works will also feature a free evening concert.The Saugus Chamber of Commerce will also have its own booth this year, and Executive Director Sean Grant said it will be a great way to show support for local businesses.?We?ll have a booth and a couple of featured members,” said Grant. “Anybody is welcomed and we?ll have bags we?re giving away with coupons from different chamber members. It?s a chance to let people know what members are involved and to learn a little about the chamber.”Computer repair company Nerds of Saugus and 222 Central Storage will be featured at the booth, said Grant.Founders Day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony and will feature entertainment throughout day from the Theater Company of Saugus, the Saugus High School Pep Band, Eric the Magic Guy and the ska band the Causeway Bandits.
