LYNN – Voices for Change, the community youth outreach performance program of Building Bridges Through Music (BBTM), is calling all elementary, middle and high school youth to auditions for the upcoming 2012-2013 season, performances (varied dates and shows) to take place November 2012 to June 2013.Voices for Change is one of the programs offered through the BBTM initiative “Educate, Engage, Empower,” an educational enrichment, after school program that offers students the joyful experience of learning music and development of confident performance skills. This program, currently in its sixth year, has provided a unique and creative outlet for children and youth of the North Shore communities.Open auditions for youth actors, singers, dancers and musicians will be held at BBTM, located on the third floor of the LynnArts building, 25 Exchange St., Lynn, (Central Square) on Saturday, Sept. 22 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 23, 3-5 p.m. No appointments are necessary. Selected cast members must be available for weekly rehearsals including the December holiday vacation.Musicians must bring sheet music and musical instruments. High school age instrumentalists needed for drums, percussion, keyboard, strings: violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar and horns: flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, trombone, tuba. Must present major and minor scales to 3 sharps and flats, demonstrate a willingness to improvise using a given pitch set (note group) and short prepared etude or sonata movement of your choice.Vocalists should be prepared to demonstrate pitch and perform one brief unaccompanied solo piece that shows your best vocal and stage qualities.If you’re unable to attend the scheduled open auditions, an audition by appointment can be arranged by contacting Executive Director Virginia Makkers or Artistic Programs Director Doreen Murray at [email protected] or 781-479-8327.
