Special offer for local students at Foreigner show Thursday

LYNN – Foreigner is making its show Thursday in City Hall Veterans Memorial Auditorium completely local and for some young fans completely free.”High school students can get in free with any adult patron who has bought a ticket,” Community Development Director James Marsh, who oversees the auditorium, said Monday.Marsh said students need only to show up at the box office Thursday after 6 p.m. with an adult who has purchased a ticket and a school ID and they will get a free ticket to see the legendary band, known for hits such as “Cold as Ice” and “Jukebox Hero.”Foreigner has an ongoing partnership with the Grammy Foundation, which supports restoring musical education in school’s across the nation and raising the awareness of the importance of music in a child’s education.As part of that mission the band has been inviting local high school chorus’ to perform on stage with it.Marsh said the Everett High School Chorus will take the stage Thursday with Foreigner to sing one its iconic songs, “I Want to Know What Love Is.””Foreigner identified the Everett High School Chorus. We would have chosen the wonderful Lynn All-City Chorus of course,” he said quickly.Foreigner also chose local musician Brian Maes to open the show, which Marsh said turns the whole night into “a wonderful little local production.”For more information contact the box office at 781-581-2971 or 1-800-594-TIXX or go to the Lynn Auditorium Box Office during City Hall business hours, room 311.Concert attendees can add another local flair to their evening by attending Centerboard’s new “Chameleon Pop Up Dinner” series, which will start the night of the concert according to the non-profit’s spokesman, Carla Scheri,Located at 16 City Hall Square, the dinners are catered by Wicked Tasty, Centerboard’s own social enterprise catering company and aim to offer affordable dinners, drinks and free parking for concert fans. Scheri said the idea is to raise awareness of Centerboard’s mission, to show off its “Visionspace,” a gallery/community room, and raise money to expand programming.No reservations are necessary, seating starts at 5 p.m., and the last dinner seating will be at 7:15 p.m.For more information contact Centerboard at 781-598-9417.Chris Stevens can be reached at [email protected].
