SWAMPSCOTT – Every article on the Town Meeting Warrant passed unanimously at the meeting Monday evening in the Swampscott High School auditorium.Once the hot issues of the School Building Committee?s feasibility study and Temple Israel rezone were over, the rest of the meeting passed quickly, said Town Clerk Susan Duplin.?I think people already had enough with the first two [articles],” said Department of Public Works Director Gino Cresta.Cresta presented Article Four, which asked for an additional $150,000 for the Essex Avenue Drain Repair to fund updates to the system that treats water before it flows out to sea from King?s Beach. Cresta said there was only one questions asked before the vote, when Attorney Ken Shutzer asked if the money had anything to do with the $350,000 appropriated for the dredging of the Tedesco ponds that were causing flooding in the Salem Street area.?It happened pretty easily,” said Cresta of Article Four?s vote.Cresta said Tuesday that the Tedesco pond project, separate from the Essex Avenue Drainage Repair, is underway with an engineer already hired to draw up the specifics of the project before it goes out to bid for a contractor.Town Administrator Thomas Younger, who elaborated on the final article that called for an additional $170,000 for worker?s compensation, said there were no questions asked before the vote.Town Meeting was called to order just after 7:30 p.m. and was adjourned at 9:40 p.m.. “I thought for sure we were going to have to do a standing vote, but it went pretty smoothly,” said Duplin.Kait Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
