MARBLEHEAD – Marblehead Police busted a Maine man Thursday for allegedly dealing cocaine out of the Riptide Lounge on Pleasant Street.David V. Deill, 50, of 15 Groundnut Hill Road, Cape Neddick, Maine, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for two counts of distributing a class B drug, according to police reports from Lynn District Court.Upon his arrest, the report states police found 32 separately wrapped “twists” of what police believed to be cocaine. Deill was additionally charged with drug trafficking and was held on $10,000 cash bail in Lynn District Court on Friday.According to police reports, Marblehead and Salem police officers conducted an undercover drug buy from Deill at the Riptide Lounge on Oct. 11.”(The officer) approached David Deill, a known dealer of cocaine,” said the report. “(The officer) purchased one bag of white powder (cocaine) from deal (sic) for $80.”The report stated that Deill took the officer through a swinging door and into the “kitchen area” to sell him the powder.A field test of the powder turned up positive for cocaine, said the report.On Oct. 18, officers returned to the Riptide and purchased another $80 “twist of cocaine” from Deill, which also tested positive, according to the report.The report states this sale was made in a small room that “stored the establishment’s empty bottles.”Marblehead Police obtained an arrest warrant for Deill on Thursday and arrested him at 1:05 p.m. the same day behind the Riptide.Upon his arrest, the report states police found 32 “separately wrapped twists” of what police believed to be cocaine. Deill told police that he packaged the cocaine to sell at the Riptide and at other bars “such as a The Landing,” said the report.Police recovered 28 half-gram twists valued at $45 each and four one-gram twists valued at $90 each, according to the report.A field test of the cocaine tested positive, said the report.The report states that Deill told police he has been selling cocaine for “approximately two years.”Deill is being held in Middleton Jail and is due back in court on Nov. 20.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
