Last week wasn’t the best ever for many local football teams. Everybody except English, St. Mary’s and Lynnfield lost, which means there are a lot of teams out there this week trying to redeem themselves.Lynn Tech, Swampscott, Saugus and Fenwick are among those playing Saturday. For Tech (2-5), winless Cape Cod Tech – an independent Division 4 school – comes to Manning Field at 1 p.m.The Tigers haven’t won since a month ago – an Oct. 6 victory over Mystic Valley. Since then, Tech has lost its last three by an aggregate score of 95-21. Much of that happened when Northeast Regional racked up 48 points against the Tigers two weeks ago.Beverly at SwampscottAt Blocksidge Field (2:30), the Big Blue will certainly look to take out some of the frustration of last week’s 35-7 loss to Danvers on the unbeaten Panthers (8-0), but the question is whether the revenge factor will be enough to overcome a multi-talented Panthers squad that has rolled over everyone in its path.Swampscott quarterback Brian Santry was certainly a handful for Danvers last Friday night, but he couldn’t beat a Falcons team that had two 100-plus-yard runners (Alex Grant and Alex Valles).Beverly, on the other hand, is so versatile that when the Panthers put up 35 points against Gloucester, nobody scored more than once.Amesbury at SaugusAt Stackpole Field (1), the Sachems could really use a win. After a 4-1 start, they’ve suffered three straight excruciating defeats ? the last one (28-26 to Pentucket last week) perhaps the biggest heartbreaker of them all.In that game, Pentucket’s Cody Rothwell ran the show, including a 61-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that happened after Saugus’ Dan Cacciola had ripped off a 41-yarder to give his team the lead.Spellman at FenwickAt Donaldson Field (6), the Crusaders are another team badly in need of a victory. After a 5-0 start, Fenwick has lost its last three, including last week’s 32-24 loss to Williams.Spellman will be looking to bounce back after last week’s 32-11 loss to St. Mary’s.Georgetown at Lynnfield (1)At Lynnfield Middle School (1), the Pioneers are back on firm footing as they head for the stretch. They will be looking for their fifth straight win when they suit up against the Royals.Last week, the Pioneers won a huge victory over defending Cape Ann League/Northeastern Conference Tier 4 champion Hamilton-Wenham.After a season-opening win, the Royals have lost seven straight.Steve Krause can be reached at [email protected].
