November 3, 2012 by jdistefano

REVERE – The Classical football team squared off against Revere at wet and muddy Harry Della Russo stadium, and the Rams were able to slam the Patriots into submission, to the tune of a 30-18 victory Friday night. The Classical (6-2) rush attack was the difference in the game. The Rams offense carried the ball 42 times for a total of 295 yards.Classical had no problem sharing the carries between Brad Scuzzarella (18 carries, 105 yards) and Justin Avery (16 carries, 90 yards). The second key for the Rams success was Jalen Brown.Brown accounted for three touchdowns, while only getting four total touches in the game. Brown had two catches on the game that both went for touchdowns (53 yard reception, 38 yard reception).Brown also broke a reverse for a 63-yard touchdown run. The Rams scored on their first four possessions of the game (all in the first half).Classical took a 30-18 lead at the end of the first half. The Patriots offense was able to keep Revere hanging around, but Classical was just too much to handle. It looked like the Rams and Patriots were headed for a shoot out, but both team’s defenses dominated the second half.Neither team’s offense in the second half never threatened to score, and never even reached the red zone. Classical scored on its opening possession of the game, on a 60-yard drive that was capped off by a Scuzzarella four yard touchdown run (8-0 Classical). The Rams forced Revere to punt quickly, and Classical scored a touchdown on its next possession. It was the first play of the second drive, when Brown broke a 63-yard run (16-0 Classical, end of first quarter). Revere finally got on the board in the second quarter, when Tommy Portrait broke a 47-yard run for a touchdown (16-7 Classical). The Rams struck right back, when Brown tipped himself a 38-yard touchdown reception (22-7 Classical). Revere quickly answered with a field goal (22-10 Classical). The Rams answered right back with Browns 53-yard touchdown reception with just one minute remaining in the half (30-18 Classical). Revere scored with four second left in the first half (Portrait 10 yard reception) to bring the halftime score to 30-18 Classical.
