LYNN – A Lynn man is in jail after being charged in connection with a Thursday shooting.Tobin N. Satterwhite, 29, of 194 Curwin Circle, Lynn, was arrested by Salem Police at around 6:19 p.m. Thursday and charged with armed assault with intent to murder.Lynn District Court Judge James Lamothe ordered Satterwhite held without bail at his arraignment Friday pending a dangerousness hearing Nov. 26.According to court records, police went to 12 Linwood Place at 4:14 p.m. Thursday for a report of a person shot. Police found a male victim, later identified as Emanuel Coreano, 30, of 12 Linwood Place, suffering from “multiple gunshot wounds,” according to the report.Coreano was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with what police described as “potentially life-threatening” injuries. However, on Friday, Lt. Christopher Kelly said Coreano’s condition had improved and he was expected to survive. The report states a female at the scene told police she was in the apartment with her boyfriend, whom she identified as Satterwhite. The woman said she was in the bathroom when she realized that Coreano, her former boyfriend, was also in the apartment, according to the report. The report states that Coreano lives with the woman but Satterwhite does not.View a map of the incident areaView Shooting in Lynn in a larger mapThe woman told police she observed Satterwhite and Coreano “fighting violently” in the apartment when she heard “a loud noise that she believed was a gunshot,” according to the report. The woman then saw Coreano drop to the floor and, according to the report, she saw Satterwhite holding a handgun before he fled the apartment. The report states neighbors heard screaming and saw a male run and flee the area in a white BMW. The woman told police that Satterwhite was driving a white BMW that day, said the report.According to the report, a record check found two addresses for Satterwhite, one at 194 Curwin Circle in Lynn and another at 98 Bridge St., #2L in Salem. Officers notified Salem Police that they were looking for Satterwhite in connection with the shooting, said the report. The report states that Salem Police started surveillance at 98 Bridge St. and saw three people leave the address carrying large bags which they placed in the back of a Ford F-150 pickup truck. Based on a photo that police had, the report states they were able to determine one of the men was Satterwhite. After the men drove away in the truck and a Chevrolet Impala, police stopped them and identified Satterwhite, said the report.Police said they retrieved pills thrown from the front side window of the Impala before the cars were stopped.According to the report, police found a “large quantity of ammunition,” two empty firearms boxes and a Mossberg shotgun in the pickup truck. The report also states police found a loaded magazine from a Ruger 9mm pistol in a gym bag in the truck in which the bullets had the same head stamp as the casings found at the scene of the shooting. The driver of the pickup, which the report also identified as Satterwhite’s girlfriend, was carrying a .380 handgun in her waistband, which the report said she was licensed to carry. The woman also told police she was the registered owner of the white BMW, which she said was parked in a parking garage in Salem, according to the report.Salem police took Satterwhite to Lynn where he was booked for armed assault with intent to murder.According to the report, one of the men with Satterwhite, O.C. Payne Jr., 26, of 9 Woodman St., Lynn, was taken into custody on narcotics charges, which the report states Satterwhite will face as well.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
