LYNN – The owner of a music studio in Lynn is asking for the public’s help in recovering thousands of dollars of equipment and music that was stolen from the studio’s Central Avenue location Tuesday night.John Raye said surveillance footage shows three masked people breaking into the building that houses The Cakin Boys Studio around 1 or 2 a.m. Tuesday.”They popped the front door in, went upstairs and kicked in our door and took everything, including wires,” Raye said. “It’s thousands of dollars and over ten years of hard work.”Raye said Lynn Police are investigating the incident and that he’s visited pawn shops in the area himself looking for his equipment. So far nothing has showed up.The Cakin Boys Studio provides recording space for mostly hip hop artists in the city ages 15-23. Raye said the studio serves 100 customers who pay minimal price?just enough for the studio to keep its equipment and pay rent. The thieves who took the equipment also made off with music recorded on it, Raye said.”So there’s a bunch of local artists with their music gone. That’s the sad part,” he said.Raye said the building, which houses other members of the music community, was close knit and residents only required a key to enter.”There was never any reason to [have anymore security],” he said.Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Lynn Police, 781-595-2000, or Raye himself, 781 346 7331.
