Fans will get a sneak peek of the Veterans Memorial Auditorium spring appearance of “Brit Floyd” tonight when WGBH Channel 2 features the upcoming concert on its annual Christmas Auction.”It’s great promotion not only for our show but for the auditorium itself,” said Community Development Director James Marsh, who oversees the auditorium. “It’s another step in the right direction.Marsh said Brit Floyd has long been a part of WGBH auctions and once the show was booked to come to Lynn, WGBH officials reached out to the city about featuring the event during its annual Christmas auction.Brit Floyd bills itself “The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Show,” and as the ultimate light and sound experience. Inspired by the 1994 ?Division Bell’ Tour the show also includes the trademark Pink Floyd arch and circle light show, and brand new “Floydian” animation and projection.People will be able to bid for tickets to the April show in the auditorium during Tuesday and Wednesday’s auction. That station will air a 90-minute version of the typically three-hour show that will be intercut with auction action.”You’ll be able to watch an hour and half of it,” Marsh said. “You’ll get a sneak peek of what you’ll see in April.”Marsh said he believes there will be other opportunities to bid as well since the auction runs through Dec. 11. He said he is also hoping that some city officials might be able to travel to the WGBH studios to make a plug for the show and the auditorium.”I don’t even know if it’s a possibility,” he said. “It’s just an idea.”He calls the PBS link another feather in the city’s marketing cap since the auction is a nationally recognized PBS event.”From a promotional standpoint, its a testimony that we’re now competing with the big boys in the greater New England market,” he said.Chris Stevens can be reached at [email protected].
