SAUGUS – Saugus Police say a man fled after causing a three-car, rollover accident on Route 107 South Wednesday night that sent two people to the hospital.Lt. Ronald Giorgetti said the accident occurred at around 7:15 p.m. after the driver of a stolen 1996 Honda Accord tried passing two cars at a “high rate of speed.”?One of the operators fled on foot,” said Giorgetti. “The vehicle was stolen in Chelsea earlier ? It appears the operator of the stolen vehicle was operating erratically at a high rate of speed and tried to pass two vehicles, and he struck both vehicles causing the three-car accident.”Giorgetti said the registered owner of the car told Malden police that he allowed a friend to borrow the car, who in turn reported the car stolen.Giorgetti said a woman and a juvenile were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No arrests have been made and police did not have a description of the suspect.?It very well could be that the vehicle was borrowed by a friend, brought to Chelsea and the vehicle was stolen,” said Giorgetti. “There?s no indication to believe otherwise, but we?ll follow up on it as we do our investigation.”Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
