NAHANT – Tide Restaurant regulars will have to wait one more day to get back to their tables.Owner Michael O?Callaghan said a broken drain line found Thursday will postpone the re-opening date of the restaurant from Saturday to Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The restaurant has been closed since an electrical fire Sept. 25.O?Callaghan said the broken drain line left the restaurant without running water.?Thank God it didn?t happen when we opened,” he said Friday afternoon. “This was just something that happened yesterday afternoon. There was nothing we could do.”O?Callaghan said crews had been working since Thursday, and the problem would be fixed by Saturday. Other that, O?Callaghan said “we were all set, everything?s in place” for the long-awaited opening. He added that the restaurant would be opening just in time for its annual New Years Eve event, which will begin 7:30 p.m. Monday with menu specials, karaoke, a DJ, and a champagne toast, all for no cover.O?Callaghan recommended interested parties make reservations, available after 5 p.m., where people can request seating ahead of time, adding that reconstruction of the restaurant after the fire hasn?t changed the layout of the restaurant too much.Kait Taylor may be reached at [email protected].
